Alta Vista is a Washington State approved, private, nonprofit school providing comprehensive educational services to students, grades 7-12, throughout the Kitsap Peninsula. Alta Vista’s mission is to provide excellence in educational and individual social development in both the letter and the spirit of equal educational opportunities.

Alta Vista offers a uniquely versatile, integrated curriculum approach to education. Curriculum and course contents have been developed to be compatible with Kitsap County school districts. More individualized instruction makes the development of self-discipline, the meeting of challenges, and the achievement of successes obtainable for students.

Alta Vista’s certified and volunteer staff is comprised of diversified individuals from Federal and State government, private business, industry and professional art sectors. Former and current students have gained invaluable work experience with the Mainstreet Association, Kitsap Community Resources and Americorp. Students publish their views on current events, trends, ethics and creative offerings in a monthly newsletter titled Viewpoint.

The organization’s community purpose is to offer parents and students an alternative choice education focusing on individual or small group instruction that is complementary to mainstream educational opportunities. Multiple and versatile facilitation strategies are implemented and tailored to meet or enhance specific student norms and variant learning styles.
